wfm with win2k build 20021109..
The next one with linux should mark this invalid (old build)
(but could be a flash problem)

wfm using Phoenix 20021108 on Win2k and Linux + Flash 6.0r60.

Works for me using linux nightly 2002110804. This could be the flash within an
iframe problem. The big flash ad is loaded from <
http://ngs.impress.co.jp/html.ng/site=GMW&size=148x800&sp=sky2>, which is loaded
inside of an iframe.
Luke, what version of the flash plugin are you using? Could you remove the flash
plugin, restart mozilla, and see if the page loads correctly then?
Well, I tried going to that flash ad in Mozilla and it triggered the problem.
I'm not sure how to disable/remove Flash, but I think that it's probably save to
make that assumption... about:plugins reports Shockwave Flash 5.0 r51

you can remove the plugin by moving libflashplayer.so from mozilla/plugins
directory.

As expected, this prevented the crash. Is it not still a Mozilla bug if it
doesn't trap a plugin error?

yes, but that's a different bug... could you try out the flash 6 beta for Linux?
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashplayer/special/beta/
flash6 works for me and Oliver...
By the way, sometimes banners on Slashdot appear garbled (and aren't removed by
BannerBlind). Perhaps it's a Flash banner?

I'm pretty sure your garbled display problems would go away if you upgraded to 1.2b

Perhaps, but Mozilla takes too long to compile (I never use binary packages) so
I'm just going to wait for 1.2 final.

Yes, lots of changes have taken place between the build you are using a today.
Also, you may want to try the flash beta release for linux:

Reporter: Are you still crashing with Mozilla 1.2.1 ?
Comment 14•23 years ago
|
||
You need to update to Flash 6 on Linux as it has many fixes from Flash 5. You
also need to ensure you build with gcc 2.x (or get a daily build) as the vtables
generated by gcc3 are incompatible with the Javascript features of Flash 6.
This WFM with the latest build and Flash.
