Hi All,
I am using w2k-p, sp3 and Mozilla 1.1.0.2002082611.
I love the Merriam Webster on line dictionary
(http://www.m-w.com/netdict.htm).
One of the features is a speaker button to
listen to the pronunciation of a word (if you
go to the web site and enter a word, the words
definition will pop up, along with a little
red speaker to listen to it.) When you press
the speaker, a little window pops up that says if
you didn't hear it to press another button
to get your system player to play the sound bite.
Mozilla does not play the sound bite natively.
The link pointed at by the speaker (for the
word "computer") is:
javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?comput06.wav=computer')
Not to add insult to injury, but AOL 8.0 plays the sound
perfectly.
I would love it if support for this function was added to the
wish list.
Many thanks,
--Tony

wfm using Phoenix 20021108 on Win2k. I believe QT6 plays the WAV file on my setup.
Hi Olivier,
Please forgive my ignorance, but, in your response, what do the following
terms stand for?
wfm
Phoenix 20021108
QT6
Many thanks,

works for me using the browser project (Phoenix) based on Mozilla with Quicktime
6 plug-in.
Hi Olivier,
If I am missing a plugin, is not Mozilla suppose to ask me to
download it?

not for a background sound.
Do you have a plugin that can handle .wav ?
see help:about plugins.
Quicktime can handle it. Informations about how to install plugins :
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org
since it also works for me -> invalid

Yikes! Quick Time is HUGE! Over 10 Meg download! And,
you have to specifically configure it to play .wav file!
Did I say "YIKES!"
Quick Time works, but it is WAY TOO DIFFICULT for
the average user to download and configure, just to hear a
simple .wav file. Would you all please consider adding native
support for .wav files?
Many thanks,

p.s. QT did work fine for me after I configured the plug in to handle
.wav file. Thank you for the tip! :-)
