https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/page.cgi?id=securemail/help.html recommends Enigmail for Thunderbird:
Configure your email client to use your associated private key to decrypt the encrypted emails. For Thunderbird, you need the Enigmail extension.
But that extension is now not supported and PGP support is now builtin. It should either be replaced by https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/openpgp-thunderbird-howto-and-faq#w_i-have-never-used-openpgp-with-thunderbird-before-how-do-i-setup-openpgp or just be removed.
