Notes:
We are submitting this issue to clarify how we shall treat future reported similar issues with this option enabled, since this option seems to be Focus specific.
As seen here: https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/111577

Change performed by the Move to Bugzilla add-on.

Component: DOM: Security → Privacy: Anti-Tracking

There is a note on AC that "blocking content trackers my cause issues with some websites"[1] though not sure how one would easily check whether content was blocked because of this or there is another bug.
Is the immediate relation between enabling content blocking and seeing page issues enough to close reported issues as invalid/wontfix?
Looking for recommendations on how mobile developers or the webcompat team should approach similar scenarios.

I can't reproduce this on Desktop even if I enable blocking content blockers, but I can reproduce on Firefox Focus.

Attaching a debugger to Focus I can see that https://apis.google.com/js/platform.js gets blocked as "Tracking" on Focus, but not on Desktop. Tim, do you know why ETP would behave differently on mobile here? Do we use a different list?

Priority: -- → P3

AFAICT, https://apis.google.com is a content tracker. We don't block content trackers on desktop when TP is enabled. This is might be the difference.

Thanks for confirming! In this case I suggest we keep the bug in the backlog, unless we can come up with a way to shim YouTube embeds without resources from that domain. I imagine this doesn't only affect the reported site. Tom, do you know if we could work around this via SmartBlock?

Flags: needinfo?(twisniewski)

The video is working for me today on the latest Fenix nightly, with Strict ETP on. Paul, is it working for you now as well?

Flags: needinfo?(twisniewski) → needinfo?(pbz)

The play store on my android emulator keeps crashing so I can't test this with an up-to-date version of Fenix. If you can no longer reproduce the issue let's close this.
