The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::DOM: UI Events & Focus Handling' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Not sure if I understand do anything in the comment1. Windows has its own system to determine which app can own the control focus for the media key, which is usually the latest app requiring the focus. It would be the same for all applications, not just Firefox.
Eg. A plays music and requests the control focus. Then B plays music and requests the control focus as well. In this situation, Windows would only allow media keys to control B, not A.
In your case, it's likely that the game you played requests the focus as well, so that Firefox is losing its ability to receive events from media keys.
