Users occasionally see a repeat of the colorways reminder feature callout after dismissing it, even though the lifetime of the message is set to 1.

Seems that the user's FIREFOX_VIEW_COLORWAYS_REMINDER initial impression is being recorded, but for some potentially unrelated reason, the impression is somehow being reset.

Summary: Colorways Reminder Feature Callout not respecting lifetime of 1 → Colorways Reminder Feature Callout message impression being reset, causing message to reappear (not respecting lifetime of 1)

A potential quick fix is to stop cleaning up impressions as practically we aren't removing many messages frequently, and we can more correctly clean it up in the next release.

I‘ve verified this issue using the latest Firefox Nightly 108.0a1 (Build ID: 20221031020332) and Firefox Beta 107.0b7 (Build ID: 20221029133721) on Windows 10 x64, macOS 12.6, and Ubuntu 20.04 x64.

  • The “FIREFOX_VIEW_COLORWAYS_REMINDER” message no longer disappears from the ASRouter devtool when opening a new private window that contains a Pin/Focus promo message.
