When the mail tool starts, after a delay I get the message "Could not connect to
mail server 43.194.188.186; the connectionwas refused." The connection requires
a password to be set, but a prompt never appeared. The IMAP connection works
fine in Netscape 6, and I have set the password manager (in Netscaoe 6) to
remember the password hoping that that would help Mozilla, but unfortunately
that did not. I'm
not sure what else to try!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
No crash, just I am completley unable to use the Mail tool due to a lack of
connection with the server.

Could you attach an imap protocol log? I wonder if your setup in Mozilla is
different. Please check the server name again to make sure it's correct, since
we're not even getting to the password part of the authentication process. Also,
are you configured to use SSL in either Mozilla or Netscape 6? Are you running
with the same profile in Mozilla and Netscape 6? If not, is it possible that
you're getting pre-authenticated to the server, and you either don't have a
cert, or the cert is expired?

are you using a SOCKS proxy? There have been reports of this not working.

I did have an entry set in my SOCKS Proxies configuration. Removing this fixes
the problem. Thank you for great assistance. Especially bienvenu.

I get "Login to server <name> failed" in build 2002121108. It never prompts for
a password, even though none is stored (at least, none should be).
No SSL, no proxies. Just two plain IMAP connections to two different accounts
which worked fine in 1.2.1.

I'm confused. How does 184571 apply when no passwords are stored? Are you saying
the password manager thinks there's a password when there aren't any?

Neither account has a password stored? If you look in password manager, is there
an imap password?

There were no imap: passwords, but there were some news: passwords. Lo and
behold, after deleting the news: passwords, I was able to get into my email.
The password manager must be pretty messed up. Thanks for the clue.
