Steps to reproduce:
The following parameters are set to false
browser.tabs.firefox-view=false
browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab=false
System environment
Fedora Linux 36 5.19.16
Gnome 42.4
Firefox installed and updated to 106.0.1 through Fedora Repo
Actual results:
Open firefox, firefox-view button and tab is not displayed as expected. But if you close all tabs (including the last one and firefox is set to not close when the last tab is closed), the firefox-view tab page is displayed.
Expected results:
firefox-view tab page shouldn't display

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Gtk' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I can't reproduce after restarting Firefox. Did you turn off firefox-view without restarting the browser? I also don't really understand from a code perspective how we would even open the tab, as it doesn't exist until the first time it is accessed.

This behavior went away after restarting the operating system. But not after restarting firefox, which I did many times before reporting.

OK... given I couldn't reproduce and you now can't either, I don't think we're going to get to the bottom of this. I also don't think, longer-term, we're likely to keep the firefox-view pref around. If you don't like the feature, you can just remove the button from the toolbar in the usual way (customize mode or the context menu) and move on from there.
