Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to an inbox that has an unread email
  2. Click on the email to open and read it
  3. See the system notification that is triggered in the lower right corner

Actual results:

A generic notification/alert is triggered when I open an unread email.

Expected results:

Nothing. I would not expect a notification to appear to inform me that I am reading an unread email.

I'll add some more info, since the bug-entry window does not ask for this:

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview (build 25227)
  • This happens on a Gmail linked inbox, and an IMAP linked inbox

Thanks for providing the video for illustration. This works for me on Win11 Pro Build 22621 with TB 102.5.1, so in theory it could be a problem with the Windows Insider Preview build, and I doubt we'd care much about that. I also doubt that this is a bug in Thunderbird.

Daniel,

  • Does this happen with ≡ > Help > Troubleshoot Mode…?
Component: Untriaged → Mail Window Front End
Flags: needinfo?(daniel)
OS: Unspecified → Windows 11
Summary: When opening up an unread email a system notification is triggered → When opening up an unread email, a system notification is triggered on Win11 Insider Preview (build 25227)
