User Story

User has multiple accounts, and manages emails in all of them, moving messages into folders which might have same names on different accounts, like `Inbox`. 3 days ago, moved some messages back into inbox of account 1. Today want to move some messages to inbox of account 2. Browse the menu, find `Move to > Recent > Inbox` and use that because it looks right. Boom! Messages disappear into a random inbox of another account. Panic until accidentally finding them in some unrelated account's inbox.

This RFE suggests to add account information to some of the menus, e.g. show the account in a menu tooltip or extended the menu label text with account information:

- Tooltip:
                                    [john@example.com]
`Move to > Recent > Inbox`

- Menu label:
`Move to > Recent > Inbox (john@example.com)`

Steps to reproduce:

I have two email adresses in my thunderbird. When I got an email in the junk folder of the second adress i right clicked it and clicked on "move to inbox".

Actual results:

It just appeard form this email account. Later I found out that it was moved into the inbox of this other email account thats also in my firefox and also has a similarly named "inbox".

Expected results:

It should have been moved into the inbox of the same emal account. But this result was only achievable through: >right click< >move< >/mail adress nr 2\< >inbox<.
Nothing tragic has happened but i thought for some time i had lost some farely important mails.
My thunderbird is in german.

Which menu are you referring to? There is no "move to inbox". The menu with "again" will move to the last place you moved/copied to

Are both accounts hotmail?

Summary: I have two email adresses in my thunderbird. When im in the junk folder of number two and rightclick -> move to inbox it appears in the mailbox of mailadress 1. → Two email accounts. In the junk folder of account two and rightclick -> move to inbox it appears in the mailbox of account one.

I'll morph this into an RFE. For users acting on multiple accounts, it is indeed not very clear at all which Inbox it will end up in when using Move to > Recent > Inbox and friends. I guess we could relatively easily add a tooltip with account information (or otherwise add the account info in the menu label with some overflow safeguards for long folder names/account names).

Jojojaner, for moving messages from an account's Junk folder back to the associated inbox, why are you not using right-click > Mark > Not Junk (or simply Shift+J on selected messages)? That should move them back correctly, and will also train your junk filter.

You are right. It always displays the folder I last moved something to.
I didn't know that and becaus both inboxes have the same name i couldn't tell the difference. It was user error but maybe there is a better way of marking which inbox is meant.

Thanks for you time.

I didn't know this shortcut... From now on i will use it as well as just "J" for marking things as junk (Is there a way that "J" also automatically moves them to the junk folder as it doesn't do it by default?).

But thank you very much for your help.
My problem is resolved now.
