Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:106.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/106.0
Steps to reproduce:
- start Firefox (in a normal window)
- open a private window (from menu or RMB on a bookmark) - observe you now have regular window icon and private window icon in the Taskbar
- in the private window, RMB on a toolbar bookmark > "Open in New Window"
Actual results:
The new private window is grouped with the regular window task in the Taskbar and not grouped with the private window task in Taskbar.
Expected results:
The new private window should be grouped with the private window task in Taskbar.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Bookmarks & History' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I was able to reproduce this issue on Win 10 x64 using Fx 106.0.5, Fx Beta 107.0.
Note: This issue is not reproducible on Nightly 108.0a1(2002-11-08).

Hi Ben,
Has this anything to do with the recent felt privacy change? Thanks.

Yeah. This was a bug introduced when I added support for putting private windows under a separate taskbar icon.

Ben, would you be able to look into this issue? Thanks.
Oh, yes, sorry! (This bug looked very similar to another one - I got confused.)

I just noticed this doesn't reproduce on 108, heh. I also dug in the debugger and realized this was fixed by https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1792163.
