User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; MyIE2) Build Identifier: Mozilla/1.3a On Win XP, any version of Mozilla, when IMAP server is selected, I get : Couldn´t connect to mail server "IP address"; the connection was refused. When I remove IP address in GOPHER proxy and SOCKS proxy, it connects to server without a problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Cc'ing necko folks. Is there some reason IMAP wouldn't work with SOCKS? Is this a known problem?

Ever confirmed: true
AFAIK, SOCKS should work with IMAP, but i have not tested it. perhaps the SOCKS proxy cannot see the IMAP server? reporter: sounds like you don't need to use a SOCKS proxy to connect to your IMAP server. are you sure that is required? do you need use the SOCKS proxy to view websites? perhaps we need a preference to allow SOCKS for web browsing but not for mailnews?
there's another report of a failure to connect to imap that is suspiciously similar - bug 179721 , though I don't know if that involves a SOCKS proxy. The thing that's disturbing about that one is that he can connect with Netscape 6.2, so whatever his problem is, it seems to be a regression. I'll try to find out if he's using a SOCKS proxy.
cc'ing Benc. Also, see bug 133903 for quite possibly relevant info.
It worked last time I tried. Do you have the option for 'use secure connection when available' set, where the server dpoes offer a secure connection? /me clutches at random guesses
It turned out bug 179721 was also a SOCKS proxy problem. So multiple users are having this problem.
