Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0 SeaMonkey/2.53.14

Steps to reproduce:

I visit websites with mp3 files that are to be played embedded such as the following:

https://www.iobit.com/en/sound-test.php

Then I simply tested the sounds.

Actual results:

Every site I go to that has an embedded mp3 file always plays a single tone that never stops every time I hit the play (arrow in a large circle) button.

Expected results:

I was expecting different sounds, not a continuous single pitch. I tested the same thing on the latest firefox for linux and had no issues there.

A Bug is REPRODUCIBLE with installation of unofficial (by wg9s) De SeaMonkey 2.53.14 beta 1 pre Mozilla/5.0 (NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0 Build 20220801210005 (Same with normal user Profile and newly created User Profile Default Classic Theme) on German WIN10 64bit. But it's unclear whether my observation is the same as reporter's:

  1. visit sample page in MS and FF and compare observations
  2. Click ► at he right.
» in SM – like in FF – I see some kind of growing progress bar and hear a falling chain of tones
  3. Click ◄ at the left
» Expected from FF observations: I see some kind of growing progress bar and hear the falling chain of tones from (2)
Actual: Progress bar works, but I hear nothing 😥

@reporter: Is this what you observed and wanted to tell?

Additional Information

a) Error Console tells nothing after click: no error, no warning ...

OS: Unspecified → Linux

I changed some media settings (ones beginning with media. and ending with .enabled) in about:config in SM since filing the report and instead of receiving a single tone when testing on that site, I receive no sound. In the latest FF, the audio continues to play correctly.
