The information from https://docs.mozilla-releng.net/en/latest/gecko_tests/new_config.html is very important for the developers who want to turn on tests for new infra configurations.
It would be a good idea to have this info also in tree.

Agreed. This documentation was first written[1] in 2020, post-layoff. At that time, the Release Engineering team was merged with the Test Automation one and the Treeherder one. I'm not 100% sure but I think this was written to cross-train the newly formed team. In the PR, :aki suggested this doc lives in-tree. I think now's the right time. What do you think :jmaher?

where should this live in-tree? I am happy to review this and sanity check it is still relevant.

With time this will have to be completely moved in tree.

Johan, are you OK if we move all of the https://github.com/mozilla-releng/relengdocs/tree/main/gecko_tests docs from relengdocs to Firefox source docs in order to have a single source of truth?
Pushed by bpostelnicu@mozilla.com: https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/autoland/rev/666b29472d99 reference in our source tree doc the Releng Team page on how to add tests for a new config. r=jmaher

Adding a link is not what we were planning to do.

Sorry for the delay. I had a closer look at these docs and yeah, let's move them. Relengdocs is not the best place anymore after all. Releng doesn't own the gecko tests anymore. The docs are very specific to tests too. So yeah, let's move them 😃
