User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021016 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021016 When more than one Mozilla window is open, switching between the two by clicking on the taskbar buttons is EXTREMELY slow, and sometimes does not switch at all. I can Alt+Tab to switch windows, and that seems to work a little better, but it is annoying when I'm primarily using the mouse. It takes upwards of 2 seconds, when other windows on the system (other programs, windows explorer, etc.) come up in less than one second. Sometimes the task buttons also disappear completely when a window is switched. Also, it ONLY happens when switching between Mozilla windows. If switching from a system window or another program to mozilla, the window appears without a problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open a browser window to any website (my homepage is www.xp-erience.org) 2.Open another browser window to another URL (this way you can tell the difference between windows) 3.Try switching back to the first window by clicking on it's button in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Actual Results: The switching is VERY slow, and at times the window does not come to the top at all. Expected Results: The browser should switch to the new window quickly. Computer configuration: WinXP Home, 1.0 GHz Athlon, 384 MB RAM, 20GB HDD and second 30GB drive, ZIP, CD-RW, NVidia GeForce 2MX with latest drivers. WindowsXP is using several different themes when this happens, and the browser is using the any theme. Similar, but not exactly the same as bug #136230.
I have found that the problem is actually isolated to when I use the NVidia 40.72 Graphics Drivers for my GeForce card. I do not have the problem with the previous build of their driver set. I have emailed them with an indication of the problem, but I don't know which team it will be to resolve the issue. So I'm informing both groups.
Mike, are you still experiencing this problem with a new build of Mozilla and the latest nVidia drivers?
I am now using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130, and have actually updated my NVidia drivers to a beta version that is not WHQL Certified at present, 42.01 (41.09 is the latest whql driver available.) This configuration seems to work fine. Through a posting in a newsgroup similar to the one here (http://www.techwarelabs.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2623) I got the idea to try another version of the driver, and this has solved the problem. I think that particular version of the driver had problems.
