Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:107.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/107.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a Firefox window on macOS (13.0.1)
  2. Go to youtube.com (or another site with video/audio content)
  3. Play and pause a video with audio
  4. Switch to another macOS user account
  5. Press the play media control key, video/audio should resume playing on the locked user account. This could also be reproduced with airpods' play/pause button.

Actual results:

Media controls resume play for video/audio on a firefox window for a locked macOS user, even when logged into another macOS user account.

Expected results:

Media controls should not affect media on a Firefox window when locked, especially when logged into another macOS user account. This security issue does not occur on latest releases of Safari and Chrome.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Audio/Video: Playback' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Audio/Video: Playback

Thanks for the report! I'm able to reproduce this on 107, but not on nightly. Would you be able to install nightly and report back on whether the behavior persists?
