Steps to reproduce:
I filed this bug a week ago but you ignored me.
I'm on Windows. I tried to add my (IMAP) gmail account to Thunderbird (102.5.1), using automatic configuration.
Actual results:
Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.
Now, Thunderbird did the configuration automatically. The username and password had always been fine before, whenever I used gmail's webmail interface; but just to make sure there was no old password lurking somewhere, I tried changing my google password. Could now login to Google and gmail webmail with my new password; Thunderbird still wouldn't play ball.
Expected results:
What should have happened, is that you should have tested your software properly so that it works as claimed.

Can you point me to the bug number? Looking at your profile, this is the only bug you have filed in 2022.
Expected results:
What should have happened, is that you should have tested your software properly so that it works as claimed.
Aren't we a bit fast with judgements? Millions of users are using gmail IMAP with Thunderbird successfully, and I'm one of them.
You probably forgot to allow cookies (at least temporarily for that google OAuth server), or some other setting related to OAuth went wrong.
Which makes this a support issue, not a bug (Thunderbird support).
I suggest the following:
≡ > Settings > Saved Passwords- delete them all for a clean start- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20 (especially the cookie and javascript parts of that)
