Build ID: 20021116 on Linux.
Some Web sites (not all) don't show the euro sign correctly on Linux,
Didn't find dupes on this besides
Steps to reproduce:
1. Load URL http://www.dvdpascher.net/
2. Check for "squares" following numbers, which stand for a Euro sign,
3. Select this text including the square,
4. Right click for context menu and it will show "Search Google for ..." with
the correct euro sign.
The euro sign will also show if you paste the content in some form or if you
view source.

Problem disappears if I specify Phoenix to "Use my fonts", which is
"adobe-times-iso8859-1 for serif (Western).

This happens because of the Verdana font, it works on Win32 systems though.

Summary: Euro sign doesn't show on page but it shows in form, context menu and view source → Euro sign doesn't show on page if using Verdana font
WFM, MS Verdana on a current trunk CVS, Linux. Older versions of the MS verdana
font didn't have the euro sign. I had to update the font to make it display.

It works fine with updated verdana fonts.
Is it worth a release note (as there's no more public microsoft.com font
resource http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fontpack/ ) ?
Whiteboard: [old verdana font don't have euro character]
The upgraded fonts containing the Euro sign are - to my knowledge - available
from Microsoft. Various versions are available, for different languages.
An english version is currently found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/wurecommended/s_wufeatured/w95europatch/default.asp
You need a utility like "cabextract" to unpack them (found at freshmeat).
Note: I haven't tested the particular fontset above - handle with care.
