User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0
Steps to reproduce:
I used Firefox ESR. I installed Firefox. I used the "Import from another browser" tool found in the File menu in Firefox (non-ESR)
Actual results:
Firefox did not detect that Firefox ESR had data to migrate
Expected results:
Firefox should have found the bookmarks/login data/etc from Firefox ESR and imported it.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Migration' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

FWIW, ESR and non-ESR store profile information in the same place (at least on macOS/Windows, but I'm fairly sure this is true on Linux too, unless your distro is doing something "interesting" with their builds). If you open about:profiles, you can find your non-ESR profiles there. We prevent downgrades, but otherwise I don't think there'd be an issue just starting non-ESR with the ESR profile as that would be an upgrade. The only negative consequence would be that then breaking using the profile with ESR afterwards.
But you're right that we don't currently surface other Firefox profile information as import sources. Mike/Ania, is this already tracked? I found bug 1794890 but it's not really the same thing.
Since a non-trivial amount of work would be required to disentangle the profiles of different builds and channels, let's perhaps track this as an enhancement, lower in priority than already mapped out new import functionality.
I will add it to the spec, but won't file a ticket for it just yet - unless you feel we can use one student's help to work on this without any impact to the rest of the work.
