If I try to send a message to which an attachment has been added by dragging an existing attachment from another message, I sometimes get an error dialog with the text "Sending of the message failed. There was an error attaching <FILENAME>. Please check that you have access to the file."
The problem is not consistently reproducible. So far, every time it has occurred has been when attaching a PDF file from a message in one account to a message being composed with another account. However, I'm not sure if this is a necessary condition, and it certainly isn't a sufficient condition, since sometimes such messages do send correctly.
Reproducibility: Sometimes
Steps to reproduce:
- Ensure Thunderbird is set up with two different e-mail accounts A and B.
- While in account A, start composing a new message.
- In the From field, use the drop-down box to select account B.
- Open a message with a PDF attachment in account A, and drag the PDF attachment to the compose window.
- Try to send the message.
(I actually don't recall the order of steps 3 and 4. Perhaps they must be reversed.)
Observed behaviour:
- I get an error dialog with the text, "Sending of the message failed. There was an error attaching <FILENAME>. Please check that you have access to the file." and the message does not get sent.
Expected behaviour:
- The message, including the attachment, should get sent.

I'm using 102.6.0. Sorry; I must have selected the wrong version when entering the bug.

I've experienced the bug now when drag-attaching an attachment from another message in the same account. So contrary to my suspicions, it seems that dragging across accounts has nothing to do with the bug.
