1808745 - url search bar hangs when performing a google search but pinned websites load instantly

Steps to reproduce:

I wanted to search something in google using the built in google search/URL bar. I typed the terms I was searching ("fruits that look like apples") into the search bar.

Actual results:

Nothing happened, I clicked on the search bar and hit enter over and over and nothing happens. I tried typing in google.com URL and it wouldn't load. However when I clicked on my pinned favourite websites or bookmarks they load instantly. If I hit refresh it just reverts to a blank tab without the terms I was searching at the top.

Expected results:

The terms entered should have opened up search results in google immediately. If it was a connection issue then the bookmarked websites and pinned websites should have loaded but they do.

• Does it happen with a new profile?
• Any errors in the console
• Could you make a screen recording of the bug happening? (the xbox screen recorder is a pretty good tool to do that)

Also, have you made any changes to about:config prefs? attaching a copy of Troubleshooting report (about:support) might help

I've attached what it looks like when i've searched something but nothing happens. I will attached a second screenshot showing the search bar is blank after i hit refresh. I will check the troubleshooter and console now hang on. I'm not that computer savvy burt when I checked the console it was just completely blank.

I should stress if it isn't clear from my original summary this issue comes and goes. I can still pretty much do what I need to do, usually closing the web browser and opening it again fixes it. but it is persistent and I first noticed it maybe 18 months ago. It could be due to my internet connection but it could also be one of the many add ons I used (i have like 3 adblockers at same time).

I think you only really need one though - I recommend uBlock Origin.

When the bug happens again, could you try to capture some logs and send them to [e-mail] ? Thanks
