Steps to reproduce:

I usually don't need the list of (upcoming) events but sometimes I search for an event, than I need that view and a small list of events is in this case not enough. So I'm regularly increasing and decreasing the number of shown events (I don't close the event list completely as getting it back is cumbersome).
I'd love the event list to be an alternative tab alike Day/Week/many Weeks/Month instead of a window that "steals" screen space from the original calendar view.
