Upgrade (via help menu) went through ok, but 60% of mailbox is now deleted on harddisk.
mailbox size on PC went from 30GB to 10 GB
Inbox subfolders for account 1 are gone
There are now ca. 365 inbox folders, all created today
Before upgrade, I closed all tabs except for three tabs showing three different inboxes.
Addons stayed active. Only 1 addon reported that it is updated to the 102 version, the others didn't yet update (maybe later)? But that is probably unrelated.
TB had been running a few days.
it seems TB deletes/replaces files in such a way that recovery software cannot find any lost files.
Any ideas about that?
update from latest/last 91 (the last one published), I don't know which that is, because that is gone now and converted to 102
it is the first imap account (which is also the largest).
... is that bug fixed where TB writes new files without checking free harddisk first? That killed off my mailbox in the 60.. series, where free space was < profile size..
Here, the profile was ca. 25 GB, free harddisk ca. 60 GB, but if TB tries to convert all message files etc in parallel at the same time, that might be bad?
or some other reason?

Typically tthere should not be a partial loss of a folder when using imap - you either see the whole folder contents, or you see none of it.

There are no such open bug reports. And there is no mail conversion when going from 91 to 102.

Do you mean you see Inbox-1, Inbox-2, etc? In Thunderbird? Or just in the OS?

The loss of folders can be seen in TB before TB tries to redownload them. The msf files and folders are gone in the OS. I immeadiately killed TB in the hope to recover the files on the harddisk, but file recovery software cannot find any deleted files.

There are ca. 365 inbox-n etc folders in the OS. They disappeared after another start of TB

partial loss of folders: maybe I expressed that unclear. Everything below inbox is gone.

see this bug and related ones inside there, being open: bug 1545725. That may be similiar, or not.

I restored a full Dezember profile copy and let it update from the server. Unfortunately, zthe tags are gone.
Any idea why my filters didn't come over? Shouldn't they be in the restored profile? Same for the account passwords?

this is reproducible - after loading a copy of profile into 91 and updating, again subfolders of inbox of account 1 are gone
if I load the Dezember profile of 91 into 102.6.1, I also loose one of the 5 accounts. (account 2).
I increased free harddisk space by 15GB, now it 55GB for a 25 GB profile.
Maybe loading into 102 does the same rewrite that the update did, because when loading into 91, all accounts were there.

Thunderbird doesn't "convert" folders on upgrade, so other than compact it should not require significant extra disk space.
Was the drive for the Thunderbird profile out of disk space?
I increased free harddisk space by 15GB, now it 55GB for a 25 GB profile.
Do you have the Thunderbird profile on a disk whose space is limited?
