Nightly 111.0a1 (2023-01-26) (64-Bit)
macOS 12.6.3

1.) Enable browser.urlbar.resultMenu
2.) Type something into the Address Bar, so that some history results appear
3.) Hover over an item, so that the Result Menu Button appears
4.) Click on the button, so that its Menu appears
5.) Move the cursor through the Address Bar Result List

Actual: It's still possible to hover through the Result List which feels strange.

Expected: Further hover through the Result List should not be possible, when the button is clicked.

A demo is attached.

Thanks for checking.

You can do the same thing on the toolbar, if you open a panel from a toolbar button you can still select other buttons or widgets and click on them while the panel is open.

Yes, that's true for Firefox Panels :) But from OS-perspective, other elements "below" the opened menu in the same window, are blocking the hover.

Please find attached a demo from this web page showing it: Without an opened menu the hover underline of the link appears, but when a menu is open, the link is not showing the hover underline for the other link.

This is probably absolutely not worth to fix. Therefore, please feel free to close this report :)

Thanks.

Hi again :) I think this report can be closed now. With bug 1801299 there was improvement, because you can now click directly where the highlight below the menu appears. Before that it was a bit strange, because you had to click twice for a reaction even though the highlight was visible. Thanks.
