User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/109.0

Steps to reproduce:

I installed the official Firefox Multi-Account Containers extension, and selected "Enable Container Tabs" in the settings menu.

Actual results:

A message appeared above the "Enable Container Tabs" checkbox stating: "Firefox Multi-Account Containers requires Container Tabs." despite the fact that container tabs is enabled. No amount of turning on and off or reinstalling the extension solves the issue. The extension still works properly in all other regards.

Expected results:

The message stating that container tabs needs to be enabled should have disappeared.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Tabbed Browser' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Tabbed Browser

Container Tabs is a built-in feature, separate from the Mutli-Account Containers. Mutli-Account Containers uses Container tabs to work.

There are some add-ons that enable and use the Container Tabs feature . Their reason for doing so may vary.

I assume the message you are referring to is being shown in the options page for Firefox. Directly below it, you should see a greyed out Enable Container Tabs option that is checked (see the screenshot).

There isn't any action required by you to actually get the add-on to work properly. The add-on sets the feature up properly. The warning message is just included in the settings to let you know why the feature is enabled, since it's a feature that is usually disabled by default.

Hopefully this clears things up a bit.

Considering that this is quite a common confusion, will confirm this as an enhancement to change the warning message to something that does not create confusion.
