    MacOS 1999110313

To reproduce:
    On any newly-opened window, try to select some text in a text widget -- such
    as the address bar in a browser window, or any text gadget in a bookmark
    properties dialog.

What should happen:
    Text gets selected.

What actually happens:
    The widget blinks in disbelief, and the cursor starts blinking at the start
    of the widget -- even while the mouse button is still down.

This bug only happens the first time any given text widget is used. On subsequent
uses (even if focus is taken away and given back again) it works fine.

OS: Mac System 8.6 → All
Hardware: Macintosh → All
Confirmed that virgin text fields decline to accept the first attempt at caret
penetration, as described by mpt26. ;)

Checked on 1999110808 Mac OS build, as well as on Win32 & Linux builds from the
same date.

Yes, I've seen this too (on Linux).  I think it's a focus problem, and I'm
hoping that it goes away when we finally have a focus model.  Cc'ing saari.

This is a dup of bug #18500 which was fixed by buster@netscape.com.

The text field still has a few annoying behaviors that I can't reproduce, but
this one looks fixed on the M12 final candidates (checked Win32 & Mac OS).
