User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/111.0

Steps to reproduce:

When the thunderbird beta snap for Ubuntu 22 got updated recently, it started opening the message list for a folder at the TOP of the list instead of the END of the list as the stable version does.

I've got the list sorted by date, ascending. So new messages are at the end of the list. I used to be able to click on a folder and know instantly whether I wanted to read the new messages or wait until later. Now I can't, because I have to scroll all the way to the end of the list first.

I also have the beta release on Windows and it does not do this. I think it's an earlier beta release on Windows.

I do not know if this is a new default. I could not find anything in settings or the config editor that seemed related.

Actual results:

Click on a folder, it opens with the top of the list displayed.

Expected results:

It should have opened with the end of the list displayed.

Summary: Thunderbird Beta opens message list at the top, instead of the end, as the stable release does → Thunderbird Beta opens message sorted by date descending, not aceneding, as the stable release does
