Details

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Click on any message in any folder (e.g., on bottom of list, when sorting by date where newest message is at the bottom of the list)
  2. Navigate to a different folder
  3. Navigate back to the first folder

Actual results:

When navigating to any folder, no message is selected and the message list view is always shown scrolled to the top

Expected results:

The message that was initially/last selected in the specific folder should again be selected. Also, the position in the list (e.g., scrolled to bottom) should be remembered even after TB restart w/o any message being selected.

That's how it normally works. Tried Help | Troubleshoot mode?
Anyway, since this is reported for 102, we won't take action. The code is all different for newer versions.

Thanks for the pingback. This issue resolved itself earlier this week during a few hours of regular operation, just like that. Since noone else seems to be reporting the same issue, let's just forget about this.

Wot: No restart of Windows or Thunderbird was involved in "fixing" this (i.e., I started up and used TB for a while with the issue, then after a few hours after changing folders again, the email last selected was remembered). Maybe some strange cache issue or whatnot - I've got a large profile with quite a few different email accounts, >100 folders and tens of thousands of emails.
(But despite current beta being 112, 102.x is still the latest release, right?

Yes, 102 is the later stable release.
