+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1821617 +++

Split the initial bug, to get one specific for getting the new emails while switching from ALL folder view to Unified Folders

  1. Set the Folders view to ALL only, in menu View > Folders > Unified
  2. Restart TB
  3. Wait a bit, so TB has no more action to do
  4. Set the Folders view to Unified folders only

Actual results:

  • TB is looking for new messages, seems server side

Expected results:

  • TB should just update the Folders view, not always get new messages

This happens like at startup, but when the user opens a new folder, so TB check for new emails.

Ever confirmed: false
Severity: -- → S4

Does this still occur?

Yes that still occurs with 118.0a1 build 20230802101449

That happen if, in Folders pane, the folder tree is at the top (with Inboxes at the top then). It's like if TB doesn't remember that the user were on the inbox folder in the ALL folder view and behaves like if she just opened the inbox folder of UNIFIED view.

BTW, if the Tag section is enabled and at the top, then it doesn't happen, as the first item of the Folders pane tree is selected.

While switching Folders mode view, if the active folder were well remembered (instead of selecting the first item of the Folders pane tree), then this bug could be a DUP of bug 1821623 (so I mark it as depending on this one)
