User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021108 Build Identifier: 26 Nov release of 1.2 Tried installing 26 Nov 1.2 build on 27 Nov on Win98 PC. Did not uninstall beta 1.2 first. Install to same directory as beta version seemed to work; however, could not get Mozilla Navigator to start after boot. Uninstalled new version, booted, reinstalled new version for 2nd try, booted - same result- Navigator splash screen comes up followed by HDD activity, then hang with splash screen still showing. Booted, uninstalled new version 2nd time, cleaned registery (used jv16 Power Tools current version), then installed latest 1.2 beta version and booted. Beta version (release 20021108008) works as before with no obvious problems. Install was done on Compaq laptop, 200MB+ RAM, 300 MHz PIII, Win98; all win processes running were kept the same during each install. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.See above Details notes 2. 3. Actual Results: See above Details notes Expected Results: New version would work the same as or slightly better than beta version Please advise if I can be of any further assistance - assuming that this bug report is of some initial help. I did look at bug 182213, 182241, and 167334 - none of which were for Win98. Cheers and regards
Try un-installing Mozilla, then delete your existing profile, then re-install Mozilla. If you have valuable bookmarks, you should probably backup your bookmarks.html first.
Please don't delete the old profile... First try to install in a clean directory. If you still get the problem run "mozilla -profilemanager" (or select that entry in the start menu) and create an ADDITIONAL test profile.
Bug maybe related to Theme(Skypilot)used with 1.2beta. Reverted to Modern theme on 1.2beta, uninstalled same, booted, re-installed new 1.2 release, booted and just competed testing all features with Modern & Classic themes - did not test with yet Skypilot as not marked as valid for 1.2 release. Mozilla seems now to be operational. Have marked MozDev page on themes to signal change and will try new themes for release 1.2 when available. Cheers and regards
