When I tried to download http://www.dbnetgrid.com/dbnetgrid/dbnetgrid.net.zip
(the actual size is 834Kb), The download manager downloads the file and then
reports download complete, but when use Windows Explorer and check the file size
it reports 494 Kb. The file does not open in winzip.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. GO to http://www.dbnetgrid.com/dbnetgrid/dbnetgrid.net.zip
2. After download is complete check the size in download manager.
3. Check the file size in Windows Explorer.

Actual Results:  
File size is different in Download Manager and Windows Explorer.

Expected Results:  
It should download correctly and the complete file.

Same size, and I can unzip this archive.

Using 1 hour old CVS based build, WinXP-Sp1.

don't think either of those bugs is related.

just tried the download, and it downloaded 834K, and reported 834K, and the file
opened ok. I guess on the reporter's attempt the connection died for some
reason. Karthik - can you try clearing your cache and downloading it again, to
see if this was a one-off?

I think the problem will be because of slow connection, at the time of download 
the speed was 400-1000 bytes per second.. But it should not say download 
completed 834 of 834Kb.. I tried the same after clearing the cache, but same 
results..

Karthik, check bug 168846 and bug 180275 for some suggestions and information.

Basically, the problem of broken downloads is not caused by mozilla, but for
some reason, internet browsers (at least NS, Moz and IE) do not control the
download process as user expect, sometimes, large downloads and/or slow
connections produce broken downloads due to some cause that download module
could not trap, thinking that process was completed sucessfully.

Download Managers as a stand-alone program works with better control but not
perfect, some cases are not handled, producing broken downloads too.

I've confirmed bug 168846 for the incorrect size reporting, so marking this as a
duplicate.
