Steps to reproduce:

  1. Setup Dark Reader add-on
  2. Set Settings > Automation > Time Based (set Start & End Time). I personally set Dark Reader to turn on at 9.30pm and end at 7.30am.
  3. Wait until the time has passed (after start and after end)

Actual results:

Dark Reader's effects do not kick in when the Start Time has passed (e.g. 9.45pm), I tried to force stop / kill the app but still it won't automatically detect that it should start since the Start Time has passed. However, I noticed that Dark Reader's effects does kick in a little later (e.g. when I checked the app again at 11pm).

The contrary happened during the End time, where Dark Reader's effects are still on after 7.30am (checked on 7.45am), and it will switch off a little later (e.g. checked at 9am)

Expected results:

Dark Reader's effects should kick in when the Start Time has been reached, and stop when the End time has been reached in Dark Reader's automation settings.

Meanwhile this bug is filed specifically for time-based automation, I also noticed that the automation does not work properly when is set to Follow System Theme, which I assumed to have been covered by this other issue (still on theme changer topic) - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1813529

Hi Kevin,
Are you able to reproduce on the latest Firefox for Android nightly version?
