Details

Steps to reproduce:

Version 102.10.4 on Windows 7 (tbird says "up to date").

  • open thunderbird
  • setup an existing imap email account
  • let it sync successfully
  • setup a 2nd existing imap account, on the same mailserver (also IMAP)
  • get some setting wrong (eg port, password)
  • fix the error, click "done" again
  • get error "incoming server already exists"
  • from this point on, the password will never be tested and the account cannot be created successfully

The fix is to restart thunderbird and start creation of the new account again.

The same behaviour exists if "done" is pressed twice, nomatter what the reason. e.g. if you press "done" and then tweak manual config, you'll get the same error. So even if mailserver credentials are correct first time around, but you click "manual config" after you've already clicked "done", then you can't create the account.

Actual results:

Popup error: "incoming server already exists" cannot progress

Expected results:

Successfully add new account, and sync it.
