User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.2b) Gecko/20021016 WebWasher 3.2 Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2.1/mozilla-win32-1.2.1-installer.exe the mozilla installer on windows 2000 dies after extracting without any explanation. installer dl'd from: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2.1/mozilla-win32-1.2.1-installer.exe about five minutes ago. i also tried the net installer, similar result. just the box went by faster. there were no processes left in memory of any unusual sort. and no new mozilla! i do not have admin rights to this pc, but that was never a problem before. hopefully it won't be a problem now as I'm not gonna get admin rights and just won't be able to use mozilla if they are required. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run the installer. Actual Results: 2. watched it vanish without a trace or an explanation Expected Results: installed mozilla i do not have admin rights to this windows 2000 pc.
please go to a command prompt and type: set and see what the TEMP is set to. Do you see any files in this directory? try: mozilla-win32-1.2.1-installer.exe -u and then run setup.exe did that work?
Severity: blocker → normal
I cleared the temp directory of all files then ran the installer again. it created a subdirectory called ns_temp which contained 18 files - a list is attached as txt to this note. SETUP.EXE is among them, but the total size of all files is only 10 megs or so. I guess that's right though. I ran setup - it appeared to work. I also tried moz... -u then setup, also appeared to work. so I guess the problem is just that the installer isn't properly calling setup. I was able to install by dl'ing the zip and moving it to where it wanted to be, but I'd be happy to try to help figure out why this installer isn't calling setup on my system if you'd like.
do you by any change have a file called "ns_temp" in your %TEMP dir: C:\Documents and Settings\ng68211\Local Settings\Temp\ ? Possible dupe of bug 179892
