When COMPOSING messages T-bird always opens PDF with Firefox

When READING a message, T-bird opens an attached PDF with the viewer specified in General->Files & Attachments
When COMPOSING a message, T-bird insists on opening an attached PDF with Firefox.
Workaround:
In config-editor, set pdfjs.disabled to TRUE
Correct [previous version default behavior] was always to open PDFs with the desired viewer.

Firefox? Do you have Firefox set as your desired PDF reader, or are you confusing product names here?
