User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux ppc; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021202 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux ppc; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021202 Running XFree 4.2.0 and Gnome 2.1.2, there is no sort of message notification window displayed when this option is checked in preferences. I'm not sure if this feature is implemented in Linux or not, but the option is there and it does nothing, so I assumed it should work. Additionally, there is no mention of it in the release notes. Could it be a problem with the particular Gnome version that I'm running, or what could it be. I'd really like to have some way of being notified of new mail in Linux graphically. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open prefs 2. Go to Mail & News, Notifications prefs 3. Check "Show an Alert" 4. Wait for new mail 5. No alert is shown, as it is in Windows Actual Results: No alert shown Expected Results: Show an alert like the one shown in Windows
I never understood what that option was for either. Doesn't do a thing as far as i can tell. Same bug was reported in bug 180305, which was resolved as dup of bug 24594. I think that is wrong.
yes, shame on me for duping that incorrectly. I'll take care of that right now. It should actually be duped to bug 158711. R.K.Aa, when I'm so clearly wrong, please kick me in bugzilla ;-) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 158711 ***
