1835991 - Firefox Flatpak writes too many system log (Fix: `sudo flatpak override --reset org.mozilla.firefox`)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/113.0

Steps to reproduce:

Using Firefox normally.

Actual results:

In ~6.5 hours, Firefox Flatpak manages to write >300MiB of logs (nearly 1.5 million lines!).

Expected results:

It should not write that much log!

I forgot to mention, it logs things to /var/log/syslog. I only catch this because somehow the logs managed to fill my whole root disk and cause the system to behave weirdly. The log is rather big and may contains sensitive data, so I'll upload if it's really needed. Below is a portion of the log.

Some more information, "V/PlatformDecoderModule" appeared ~830,000 times in those ~1.5 million lines.

You are correct. The problem is I didn't set it. Maybe the flatpak version set it by accident?

Running this remove the previous override and also remove the MOZ_LOG from the environment variable list.

You must have manually set it in the past.
($ sudo flatpak override --env=MOZ_LOG="hello" org.mozilla.firefox).
