User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021205 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021205 I'm using an xft-enabled build on source mage, and whenever mozilla renders italic text, it is rendered at an angle. The first glyph is in the correct place, the next is slightly up from the base line, the next further up, and so on. It's as if the the italic-rendered block is rotated around the bottom-left corner of the block. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Here's the first screen I saw italics on. Note the text of "Congratulations" and "please turn it on".
This is a bug in the particular freetype version you're using.... See bug 179667 comment 10 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 179667 ***

Yep, not a mozilla bug, since I saw it with Kmail, too. And building the latest freetype fixed it.
