Steps to reproduce:
When in landscape mode, or in tablet mode (whenever the keyboard is in a wide orientation), touching beneath the space bar will close the keyboard and clear the address bar.
This occurs on a Samsung Galaxy S10 (running Android 12) in portrait mode, and on a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 (running Android 13) in portrait mode on the cover display, or tablet mode/unfolded in any orientation.
Actual results:
If the space bar is missed, and the user touches beneath the space bar, the keyboard gets hidden, and the address bar clears. As if the touch falls through the keyboard and onto the page beneath, as if one was trying to dismiss the keyboard.
Expected results:
The keyboard should only get dismissed when the button to hide the keyboard gets pressed, and the text in the address bar shouldn't clear unless explicitly told to do so.
Here is a video of the issue occurring. https://youtu.be/ofuXmHZkGik
You can see tapping below the space bar in landscape or tablet mode makes the keyboard hide, and causes the address bar to clear.

Hello nabeelr,
Unfortunately that interaction to dismiss the keyboard is controlled by the operating system and not by us. That being said it definitely shouldn't be clearing out your previously entered text!
Hi Jeff!
I have seen this happen in other scenarios, but i've also seen it be suppressed.
For example, right now when typing in this text field in Firefox, touching that area doesn't dismiss the keyboard.
But if I switch to the address bar it will.
With regards to clearing the text, even if there's text already entered in the address bar, say from a previously visited website, dismissing the keyboard will clear the entire text field including text that was there previously that wasn't entered by the user.

I was able to reproduce this issue with Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 (Android 12), as described.
Please note that this only happened when "Gesture navigation" was selected for system navigation.
With the "3-button navigation" option selected, the issue is not reproducible.
Tested and reproduced on:
- Nightly 122.0a1 from 12/12
- Beta 121.ob9
- Release 121.0

Any update on this?
This bug is a year and a half old, and continues to cause issues when typing in the address bar.
For such a prevalent and easily reproducible bug, I'm surprised it hasn't been addressed yet.
I want to make sure this doesn't fall through the cracks. This is one of the biggest usability issues with Firefox currently.
