User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/114.0.0.0 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
Start up thunderbird
Actual results:
Sometimes when I start up Thunderbird, the E-mail tab shows up completely empty. Other tabs seem to work normally, but I cannot see my e-mails.
Restarting Thunderbird in error recovery mode helps, sometimes I need 2 or 3 attempts. Restarting the PC works (temporarily) as well.
Expected results:
I should be able to see my E-mails in the E-mail tab.

Try to reproduce using Help | Troubleshoot mode
Do you see any relevant errors in the Error Console?

Hi Magnus,
I'm sorry, but whenever I start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode (I have tried at least 10 times after your suggestion) the problem does not occur (everything looks fine). So nothing that I can see in the error console looks suspicious.

Since it works in troubleshoot mode, the cause would be one of your add-ons.

I do not have any add-ons or extensions installed though (see attachment thunderbug2.png).
What else could be the reason?

Hardware acceleration (try disabling in Thundebird settings). Or some corrupt file in the profile

Thanks for the tip. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, unfortunately that didn't solve the issue.
How can I find and repair a corrupt file in the profile? Or, if I have to create a new profile to fix it, how can I migrate all my e-mails (it's a huge archive dating back 10+ years) to the new profile?
Is there really no way to reliably trace this error back to its cause, i.e. error console in normal mode, any logs etc.?

The error console messages in normal mode would be good yes.
In the profile many files can be removed (and get re-generated on restart). Keep backup first, then try deleting session.json, folderCache.json, xulstore.json and maybe some more.

Just wanted to inform you that updating to the last beta version 115.0b6 apparently has fixed that issue for me. At least it didn't occur once since updating 2 days ago.
