184271 - email delete button stops working sometimes, restart corrects problem

Sometimes, the delete button in email will not delete a message.  The button is
available (not greyed out), but the message is not deleted.  Can't delete any
message in any folder, period.  Restarting Mozilla (must shutdown broswer too)
always fixes the problem.  I have yet to figure out a pattern for when this
problem occurs.  This problem has occured  4 times since I switched from
Netscape 7 to Mozilla yesterday.

Also, it is not only the 'delete email button' but also the <delete> key
and the context menu item 'Delete Message' stop working.

Confirm restart as a work round.

Present starting in 1.3a. Continues in 1.3b. Can only delete first email message
in a sessoin. Second attempt is ignored no matter how it is done, menu, delete
key or by groups etc. Exit mozilla and return it allows first delete again. Can
leave index corrupt.

I don't know if this is of any use, but I also have the same problem with 1.3b
on NetBSD-1.6 and I have specific information that may be of some help:

I found that the problem for certain emails (typically junk emails) is
reproduceable almost 100% of the time even after a restart of Mozilla no matter
how many times I try.  Other emails just a simple restart of Mozilla fixes the
problem for.  After I click on one of the emails that cause Mozilla to get into
this state, I can only see emails that I have already viewed in that session
(cached?.)  When I try to view an email that I haven't already viewed in that
session (not cached), it immediately pulls up a blank page.  In this state, I
cannot delete or move any emails to another folder.  Sometimes if I change
folders things start working again.

This happens for me about 1 / 15 emails that I get.

This also occurs on win98 mozilla 1.3.  Delete button and delete key stops
working after one use.  I also can not view any other messages from that point
on in the current window.  If I double click another message, opens a viewing
window, I can view that message, but delete still does not work.  If I double
click on, for example, inbox which opens a new window I also can view other
messages, but delete still does not work.  I had it happen last night a couple
of times after I installed 1.3 and restarting seemed to fix it. But this morning
it happens after the first message delete.  I must restart delete a message and
restart.

Exactly the same problem here (Mozilla 1.3). Deleting emails worked for a while
after having almost emptied the inbox (down to about 200 emails). Now the
problem is back: Deleting an email shows no reaction (button or Del-key);
afterwards I cannot even open another mail for reading - I need to switch to
another email folder and back to be able to read other mails again
(alternatively Mozilla can be restarted).

I had the same symptom since I tried 1.3a for the first time.
It never happened in 1.2!
Now I re-installed 1.2 and the problem is gone (on the same email data as before
with 1.3 everything works fine now back in Mozilla 1.2 - I can delete, move,
read,... several emails in a row).
The problem seems to have been introduced after 1.2 and before 1.3a.

Just a follow-up...

I still have the same problem with Mozilla-1.4b on NetBSD-1.6.  Additionally
now, if it goes into this weird state, the 'delete mail marked as junk' option
also fails to delete emails.

This appears to be a duplicate of Bug 192780 (applies to POP mail only). It has 
been fixed in 1.4a and subsequent nightly builds, and will be part of the 1.3.1 
release as well. For a workaround, see Bug 184959 Comment 19.

However, Chris Ewert, you seem to have a different problem.
