Testing as user complaint - Message Pane is auto enabled and email auto opened when clicking on Notification pop up of email -

Message Pane is disabled - closed. User does not use it and always opens in a new tab using a double click.
Testing in release 102.13.0
- Send email to a gmail account
- Close Message Pane
- Exit Thunderbird and restart.
- Message Pane still closed.
- Incoming notification - click on it to see email.
Actual Result
Focus goes to Thunderbird app and Inbox of account that receives new mail
email is displayed in list and it is selected
'Message Pane' remains closed as per settings
Requires double click to open in a tab.

- Send email to a gmail account

- Exit Thunderbird and restart.
- Message Pane still closed.
- Incoming notification - click on it to see email.

Email is not auto opened if 'Message Pane' is disabled by user.

I'm having the issue on Windows 11 in addition to the reported Windows 10

Problem fixed in the current release 115.2.2
Now when a new message arrives and I click on the notification banner, it opens the new message. It leaves the preview pane turned off which is how I keep it set.
