User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.15; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download Firefox stable for macOS but may apply to other OS builds. My test is Firefox 115.0.2.dmg.
  2. Open any video from webmLOVERS: NOT SAFE FOR WORK (NSFW). This video is safe for work but contains adult ads: https://webmlovers.xyz/video/?vi=16231.15c7280e.webm
  3. If the issue does not happen with windowed FF, try with full-screen or vice-versa. May be required to retry a few times until the issue happens.
  4. In private new window does not happen.

Actual results:

Clicking on the play icon the first time, opens a popup which flickers from one corner to another, so you can't really close it and if you try you end up closing the main browser window instead.

To view the window, I must to to mac Dock, right click on the FF icon - Show All Windows, then the ads window is still and can be clicked. Then you can manage to close specially if you make it full-screen.

Happens as well with Firefox Nightly.

The worst thing about this bug is that you try to close it clicking the X but by chance you end up closing all your tabs from the main window since you close your window at once, and there may not be confirmation.

Expected results:

Work in a different way.

A screen capture will be added asap.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::Widget: Cocoa' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Here's the video recording of the screen when the issue happens. To stop the flickering click must be made in main website. Listing the popup in macos with Control-Down arrow doesn't do anything.

The popup opens as still windows, but once you hover the mouse over it is when starts flickering so you can't close it. Accidentally you may close your main window and all of your tabs.

The issue does not happen if FF is Full Screen (green icon on top left corner "Enter Full Screen", instead it open in new tab). Video recording below.
