Firefox is consuming too many resources and is unstable. I've gone through the troubleshooting steps to no avail.

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/115.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 Edg/115.0.1901.183
Steps to reproduce:
With Firefox already running (37 tabs in a total of 3 windows opened) I went to Microsoft Edge and opened up a tab (5 already opened in just 1 window), my screen became frozen, I shut down the system and then restarted it,
Actual results:
I shut down the system and then restarted it, I first ran scanned my system using Webroot SecureAnywher, the result was no virus, I then enabled/turned-on my VPN, still, the issue persisted, I proceeded to troubleshoot the problem further, I pulled up task manager and noticed that both CPU usage and RAM allocation were unusually high (Firefox), I looked on the web for answers which led me to support.mozilla.org, followed all the steps. and nothing worked, finally went to one last change/effort, I downloaded Firefox the beta release, and still, that did not fix the problem.
Expected results:
I should have been able to open up a tab in MS Edge and NOT have my screen frozen and go down the rabbit hole of endless troubleshooting steps, that was not fun at all.

Does the problem still happen if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (Safe Mode disables add-ons, extensions and themes, hardware acceleration and some JavaScript stuff in order to exclude some possible reasons for problems.) See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
And does this also happen with a new and empty profile? See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile
Thank you.

Firefox 116 In safe mode peaks at 100% CPU usage, for a number of minutes, but then levels out at 20 something %. This is far better than prior use of the software app. Thank you so much.
