[Affected Platforms]:

• Windows 10 x64
• Windows 11 x64

[Prerequisites]:

• Have the “user.js” file downloaded on your computer.
• Have a different OS language than the browser’s one.
• Have Firefox pinned to the taskbar.

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Create a new Firefox profile without opening it.
2. Navigate to the profile folder and paste the user.js files from prerequisites.
3. Open the browser using the previously created profile.
4. Skip the first onboarding screen.

[Expected results]:

• The “Choose your language” slide should be displayed.

[Actual results]:

• The Mobile Cross-Promo slide is displayed instead.

[Notes]:

• Attached a screen recording of the issue.
• This issue is reproducible on both branches of the experiment.
• This issue is not reproducible without the experiment.

Hi! To clarify is this for New User Test Copy about Privacy Speed and Security experiment? If so, this will be an en* only experiment so there will be no language switcher screen included in the experiment. Sorry if I didn't clarify that in the test plan.

Hello! Yes, this bug was filed for the New User Test Copy about Privacy Speed and Security experiment.
You are correct; the experiment targets only en* locales. However, with the current targeting, the experiment will also reach users in all countries that might have their OSes languages set to other than en* language.
As far as we are aware, this is a scenario where the "Choose your language" slide would be expected to be shown. Can you please confirm that we still don't want to show the slide, despite the scenario above?

I can confirm that the "Choose your language" slide is now displayed on both Control and Treatment branches of the New User Test Copy about Privacy Speed and Security experiment. However we encountered a new issue, we left all the needed info about this in the Jira ticket.

I have verified the new recipe for this experiment and the "Choose your language" slide was removed from both the Control and Treatment branches of the experiment.
Considering this I think we can close this issue.
