Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021209 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021209 In the preferences under Tabbed Browsing is a checkbox for "Open tabs instead of windows for Middle-click or control-click of links in a Web page." This preference is now affecting links clicked in mailnews. I think this is wrong, and I particularly don't like the behavior. Previously (1.2 and earlier), middle-clicking a link in mailnews always opened a new window, regardless of the Tabbed Browsing pref. Now, if the pref I described above is True, middle-clicking a link in mailnews will open a new tab in some random browser window (well, I suspect it's the last-active window, but I haven't checked). What annoys me about this is that I often have several multi-tab windows open on several different desktops, and I have to root around to find the tab with the link I just clicked. If I deselect the pref, then middle-clicking in mailnews does indeed open a new window. However, I want middle-clicking to open new tabs while I'm browsing, but not while I'm reading mail. This could be an RFE (maybe enhance the Tabbed Browsing prefs), but I think it's more of a regression bug since it's not working like it used to. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Check the "Middle-click or control-click of links in a Web page" box in the Tabbed Browsing preferences panel. 2. Middle-click (or control-click) a link in mailnews. Actual Results: A tab opens in some already-open window. Expected Results: Open a new window regardless of the Tabbed Browsing pref. This is how Mozilla used to work.

_Absolutely_. Agree 100%. This, for me, is a rather nasty usability regression. Gerv
