Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/115.0

Steps to reproduce:

I tried to screenshot a picture

Actual results:

It failed & gave me an error msg.

Expected results:

Seriously?! It shouldn't have failed & should have let me screenshot the damn pic! I just DL'd the latest version of FF 64 bit too, & even cleared my entire cache & rebooted my computer & it STILL won't work! WTF?! Please fix this! Also, I uninstalled FF, & reinstalled it after DL'ing the latest version's installer, & it STILL didn't resolve this issue!

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Screenshots' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

I'm sorry this is giving you trouble. Can you share a bit more information about what is going on? It would be helpful to know:

  • The details from about:support - this includes a couple of key preference values that might help diagnose the issue, as well as any addons/extensions you have installed that could conflict with screenshots
  • A URL of a page that gives you this behavior
  • The exact message you are seeing - either a screenshot or the words. I assume this is coming from the screenshot extension but its hard to guess at what exactly is happening.

Closing this as resolved: incomplete due the lack of response from the reporter. Please feel free to reopen the bug if the issue still persists and follow the instructions of writing a new bug.
Thanks.

Hi, sorry guys, I didn't see the E-mail w/Sam's question. I somehow missed it, my apologies. Anyway, yeah, it seems to have worked itself out, either by an update to the browser, or I don't know. I am still having an unrelated issue though. FF often logs me out of Yahoo E-mail & Gmail, even though, I didn't clear the cookies for other websites. No clue why it does this, & it's only w/those 2 websites it does this. & unlike my bank website, Yahoo & Gmail don't have a timeout feature built into them, which logs you out after a period of inactivity. I posted this issue before, but, it went nowhere.😒 Please move this to the appropriate area so that maybe it can be addressed finally...?!😒 Thanks.

Also, it was happening on every website, & no clue if it was caused as a result of any other addons, & I use the same ones all the time, & it never had an affect like this before when I initially reported it. & even though that instance was happening on all websites, I have since noticed that somehow some websites disable that addon from working on their websites-for what reasons, I don't know. So, whenever this does happen on such sites now, I just use the old fashioned CTRL+ALT+PRTSCN to capture the whole screen, then edit said screenshot in Windows paint to just the area that I actually wanted to screenshot. & no msg ever appears when the addon fails, or is secretly disabled by the website. It just fails to take the screenshot at all! Then I use the aforementioned oldschool method by which to capture it.

It's nice to hear that your issue no longer persists.
