search, and then delete message from the 3 pane, or the stand alone msg window.

this is going to be very similar to the fix in bug #172392.

fix, plus some code cleanup.

I've also fixed the problem where the status text (the number of matches found)
doesn't update when you delete or move items from the advanced search dialog
(or they are moved underneath you.)

I've also made changes that will allow me to fix that problem for QS, and to
fix QS and advanced search so that as we get search hits, we update the status
text.
