RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1844771

People

(Reporter: tsukiyomaru0, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/117.0

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start typing
  2. Highlight one of the first 2 history suggestions (not bookmarked)
  3. Shift Delete or click the "(...)" and pick "Remove from history"

Actual results:

Nothing. Literally nothing. It still stays in the history as if nothing happened UNTIL I go directly into the history to remove it from there instead. It doesn't even make the suggestion disappear from sight.

Expected results:

Should have removed from history and URL suggestion as expected.

Again, this is a random, inconsistent bug. It could happen early after you start a session, could happen later, could not happen with you but happen with someone else, could happen to you but not anyone else, Debug Console doesn't pop up errors BUT trying to debug might cause the bug itself to "disappear" for a moment.

And no, clearing Places.SQLite does not fix it. Had Firefox rebuild it from scratch and it still broke.

Ah yes, it's consistently only the first 2 suggestions that becomes impossible to delete from the URLBar via Shift+Delete when this bug happens. The third and later entries will always be good to clear.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Component: Untriaged → Address Bar

I am not able to reproduce the issue on Win10x64 using FF build 117.0 (20230824132758), after selecting delete from history link is correctly removed from list.
Reporter I know you mentioned it is random but does it happens when you search for a specific site/word? Also does it reproduce on new and empty profiles also? (see link for new profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems#w_6-create-a-new-firefox-profile). Thank you for your report.

Can't clearly produce in a new profile as of yet. I have a suspicion that it might relate to a nearby opening tab having the same URL, or to SQLite Error (the SQLite where it started first happening had a lot of entries with "ERROR" at random points). The Debug Console doesn't output anything unusual when that happens.
