Steps to reproduce:
Sometimes when i switch between my mail account "Inbox" the scroll position of the messages gets messed up.
See 3 attached images, where i made 1 click per image.
See red circle in image 1 and 3.
It's annoying to always have to scroll back down to the bottom again after switching inboxes.
Actual results:
Scroll Position moved to the center of my mails list
Expected results:
Scroll Position should stay at the bottom, Or stay where i left off.

I think the "Problem" is that it always scrolls to the last "selected / active" item after a folder switch.
Which is "okay" i guess now that i figured that out.
This was not the case in Thunderbird Versions before Supernova afaik.
This requires me to make one extra click, scroll once, then click an item so it will remember the scroll position.

As others have pointed out after restarting Thunderbird the scroll position is again messed up.
Even if i selected an item at the bottom of the list. Once i restart Thunderbird the Scroll Position is in the middle again.
(i would prefer to edit my Post / comment, but can't find a button to edit comment.)

See also Bug 1845327.
When restarting Thunderbird 115.4.1 with Inbox not the current mailbox, the scroll position for Inbox is always messed up, with the position set to an email from August 2015. Same thing happens sometimes when switching to Inbox from other mailboxes. Latter condition is not readily repeatable. Other mailboxes do not appear to be similarly affected. I have 6,853 messages in Inbox, with multiple other mailboxes in use.

I have had a similar problem since the most recent update of Thunderbird (115.4.1), though not limited to the inbox. I have numerous folders, and switching folders causes the scroll position to change in random ways.
For example, I have three folders: Mailing Lists, Shopping, and Bugzilla. If I switch from Mailing Lists to Shopping, the Shopping folder is scrolled to the bottom/most recent, and the most recent email is selected. If I then switch to the Bugzilla folder and then back to the Shopping folder, the Shopping folder is scrolled back to October 2015. If I then again switch to the Mailing Lists folder and then back to Shopping, the Shopping folder is then back at the most recent email position at the bottom.
This is repeatable every time I switch between those specific folders. Basically, every time I switch from Folder A to Folder B, Folder B will be scrolled to a particular position depending on which specific folder Folder A was. Manually scrolling any given folder is never remembered.

Please try setting the preference mailnews.scroll_to_new_message
to false
in the Config Editor. Does this change anything?

That setting was already at false. I've checked the results with it set to both true and false, and while there are some slight differences in where it sets the view when selecting the folder, both values still lead to the described behavior of the scroll position changing based on what the previous folder was.

Okay, this looks like another duplicate of bug 1827042. The fix for this should land in ESR soon.
